Westmoreland’s Absaloka Mine in Montana Reaches New Four-Year Labor Agreement

Westmoreland Coal Company reported a new collective bargaining agreement has been reached with the represented employees at Westmoreland Resources Inc.’s Absaloka Mine in Montana. The new agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 400 is effective retroactive to June 1, and will expire May 31, 2015.

Westmoreland Coal Company, which recently listed on the NASDAQ Global Market exchange, is the oldest independent coal company in the United States. The company’s coal operations include coal mining in the Powder River Basin in Montana and lignite mining operations in Montana, North Dakota and Texas. Its power operations include ownership of the two-unit ROVA coal-fired power plant in North Carolina.
