Tirex Appoints Mr. Fred Tejada as Vice President Operations and Exploration
Tirex Resources Ltd. has appointed Mr. Fred Tejada, P.Geo., as vice president of Operations and Exploration.
Mr. Tejada has 30 years of international mineral industry experience and has a proven track record, working with both major mining companies and exploration focused organizations.
For seven years, Mr. Tejada was country manager and president of the Philippine subsidiary company for Phelps Dodge Exploration Corporation. While with Phelps Dodge, Mr. Tejada was responsible for corporate matters and exploration activities from project generation, property acquisitions and permitting. In this role, he led the acquisition of 100 percent ownership of mineral rights over Mountain Mines in Batong Buhay and Taysan copper deposits, deposits with known historical resources, and the surrounding areas. Mr. Tejada was responsible for building up a portfolio of promising exploration properties, which allowed the Philippines office to remain active after the other exploration offices of Phelps Dodge in Australasia were closed.
Mr. Tejada transitions into the role with Tirex from Panoro Minerals Ltd. where he holds the position of vice president of Exploration. Panora is based out of British Columbia, Canada and operates in Peru where he directed the resource definition drilling of its two major copper projects. He had also been previously involved in the exploration of the Trend Mine and the Belcourt Saxon Coal deposits that are now partly owned by Anglo American (now Anglo Ashanti) in NE British Columbia.
“Tirex is obviously having a transformational year with the company’s recent announcement regarding production plans,” said Mr. Bryan Slusarchuk, Tirex chief executive officer. “As we plan our growth and transition into mining production, we will benefit immensely from Mr. Tejada’s international experience and his proven track record with both major mining companies and junior explorers. This combination will serve Tirex well as it targets substantial production alongside of continued aggressive exploration of the Mirdita VMS District.”
