Company History:
Logan Hardware Company was founded on February 29, 1904 in Logan West Virginia. Back in those days, mule trains carried supplies and goods through Southern West Virginia’s rugged mountains before the first railroad car was loaded in Logan in September 1904. The store distributed everything from farm equipment to household goods to mining supplies. In Logan County, Logan Hardware was the first distributor of this kind.
During the late 1960s, management abandoned the nuts and bolts approach to products in favor of specializing in product lines for the mining, industrial and construction industries. To reflect this shift, the firm adopted the name Logan Corporation on October 6, 1969.
In January 1986, Logan Corporation acquired the the assets of Sullair Sales and Service of Charleston, West VIrginia, specializing in sales, rental and service of air compressors.
In May 1989, Logan Corporation was appointed the exclusive distributor in the Continental U.S. for genuine General Electric Locomotive renewal parts for mining, switching, road locomotives in industrial applications and Class II and Class III short line railroads. Inventories are maintained and sales activities are coordinated from Huntington, West Virginia.
Kanawha Steel Equipment Co., a Charleston, West Virginia based surface mining supply company was acquired by Logan Corporation in July 1993. In 1995, the two companies merged into one corporation.
The combined companies provided customers with a full range of supply and equipment for underground and surface mining, rail transport, industrial plants and construction projects.
