Fairmont Supply Company Celebrates 90 Years of Excellence in Industrial Distribution

The world was a much different place 90 years ago but history and commitment continue to remain the backbone of Fairmont Supply Company.
Ninety years of quality customer service and innovation is impressive in today’s economy. Throughout the years, the term “full service” has become synonymous with “Fairmont Supply.” They are incredibly proud to be a long-standing organization and to have had so many dedicated employees.
Since its inception in 1921, Fairmont Supply Company has steadily grown and modernized to meet the ever-changing needs of its customers in the mining and industrial marketplace. Through progressive management, Fairmont Supply has become one of the most innovative and advanced industrial distributors in the country. They have grown from a single location in Fairmont, W. Va., to more than 30 customer service centers and onsite stores management locations throughout the United States, all serving customers in key geographic areas.
Eye on the Future
Fairmont’s growth strategy is to continue exploring opportunities in all markets across the country. During the past several years they have entered key domestic industrial markets by opening new facilities or through acquisition.
New markets have included steel production in Chicago, Ill., with the purchase of Calumet Distribution in 2006 and chemical processing along the Gulf Coast with the acquisition of Piping and Equipment, Inc. in 2007. In the same year, the purchase of Brite Stars Sales in northern Nevada, brought Fairmont Supply into the industrial and gold mining market in the western part of the United States.
In 2008, the expanding oil and gas industry became a market for Fairmont Supply with the purchase of North Penn Pipe and Supply located in the Northwestern region of Pennsylvania.
July 2010, Fairmont Supply opened a new facility in Washington, Pa., designed to primarily serve its area oil and gas customers in Southwestern Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia.
And they’re not stopping there. A new oil and gas stores management facility has just opened in Jane Lew, W. Va., and a new customer service center in Farmington, N.M., opened earlier this year to service a recently awarded contract customer.
In addition, their Indiana, Pa., operations have moved to a larger facility. The expansion includes an oil and gas division and a ParkerStore, which is a new business unit for Fairmont Supply Company.
The first ParkerStore business unit of Fairmont Supply opened in Morgantown, W. Va., in the summer of 2010. As part of the ParkerStore retail businesses worldwide, the Fairmont Supply ParkerStore provides knowledgeable support, professional services, and innovative products and solutions to maintenance, repair, and overhaul technicians in a variety of markets, from material handling to car washes.
