The association of large-scale mining companies in the Philippines is still up with its relief operations for victims of Tropical Storm Sendong.
The Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) representatives have been in Cagayan de Oro City since December 21, 2011 to help the flood victims.

Rosemarie Imperial said it is part of the association’s Safety Networking Action Program.
The activity, dubbed as “Pusong Minero” relief operations, is being conducted in coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The group installed water filtration equipment at the Cagayan de Oro Water District water booster station in Barangay Macasandig and in Iligan City.
Each purifier has the capacity to produce 30 gallons of drinking water per minute. The water is given for free to flood victims staying in evacuation centers in Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City and some parts of Misamis Oriental.

Packs of food commodities, including kids’ stuff and truckloads of plastic mats, mosquito nets and blankets, were also given to the flood victims.
The group also gave hundreds of cadaver bags and tons of hydrated lime to suppress unbearable odors of retrieved decomposing bodies.
PMSEA President Engr. Louie Sarmiento, who also came to Cagayan de Oro, extended his condolences to all who have lost members of their families and properties.

The group now conducts medical mission in Iligan City.
