American Mine Research Inc. received MSHA approval on its latest mine safety product, the Model MN-6215 Dual Channel Wireless Transceiver.

The design of this unit meets the applicable requirements of Title 30 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 23 and is approved as permissible for use in gassy underground mines. The MSHA approval number is 23-A100001-0.

This unit will be used in different applications where tracking and communication is required to monitor coal miners within 200 feet of strategic locations and on each section.

Because the unit is wireless, it can be mounted to the roof and removed very easily as the sections advance or retreat. Each unit operates on either two or four 1.5-volt “C” Energizer Industrial Alkaline Batteries. The dimensions of the Dual Channel Wireless Transceiver are 7 1/8 inches long, 5 1/4 inches deep and 5 1/4 inches high.

AMR also has recently received approval from the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection for the MN-6000 MINE NET SYSTEM under approval number BFE 163-09.

This approval will allow AMR to extend the use of the Mine Net Tagging and Tracking systems in the bituminous underground coal mines of Pennsylvania.

AMR’s radio frequency identification tag and the text messaging component of the system has also received MSHA approvals.

AMR also has received orders for the Mine Net system from operations in West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming

Among the biggest advantages to AMR’s Mine Net system, General Manager Bob Saxton said, is that it is intrinsically safe, so there is no need for costly permissible enclosures. All of the components of the system were designed so that no piece will produce more than 18 volts, he said.

And because of that, mining operators can expect to see significant cost savings when using Mine Net, Saxton said.

American Mine Research Inc. has been a leader in monitoring and controls systems for the mining industry since 1975. Combining the latest technology with the growing needs of customers, AMR works to supply products that not only enhance safety but also improve productivity at mines all over the world.

AMR’s line of MC-4000 products meets and exceeds MSHA’s requirements for mine monitoring systems and have been proven to be essential in operational control.

High-speed communications and Ethernet-based systems provide mines with real-time gas/belt monitoring and controls and wide access to information from many locations, including off-site settings.  The use of a fiber-optic backbone and AMR’s Modbus Gateway Remote stations has made gas/belt monitoring faster and easier than ever.

In addition to the MC-4000 System, AMR manufactures a diverse line of monitoring and controls products for the mining and industrial world including ground monitors, circuit breakers, speed sensors and tip switches.

AMR is dedicated to providing the customer with products that will get the job done, improve safety, and reduce operating costs and downtime.

AMR has an international distributor network and a highly trained engineering and service department that are willing to assist customers with any type of problem that may arise. AMR’s products are attractively priced, have proven reliability and are MSHA-approved where applicable.
